« CONTEMPORARY TEXTILE ART » – Award 2022

The Instituto Alicantino de Cultura Juan Gil-Albert, announces the « CONTEMPORARY TEXTILE ART » Award, 2022 edition, with the aim of encouraging, promoting and disseminating the development of art and plastic and visual creation with textile fiber

The competition has two aspects:
– the development of a group exhibition (Dates of the exhibition: NC)
– Prizes: the economic endowment of 12,000 euros divided into a prize of 6,000 euros and 20 of 300 euros.

Public:
The competition is aimed at contemporary art creators from any background, who may enter the competition individually or collectively.

Characteristics of the work
– Recently created works.
– Techniques, themes and formats are free.
– The framework concept of the award is that of expanded textile art, including other techniques such as photography or video.
For example, textile art is understood as the use of flexible materials such as thread, textile fiber, flexible plastics, hair, rubber, metallic thread, vegetable fiber, etc., in the technique.
– Excluded are pieces considered to be handicrafts, design and decorative arts.
– Maximum size: Wall format: 200 x 200 cm. Three-dimensional: 200 x 200 x 200 cm.

Documentation
– Application/Registration form with the required data.
– Copy of ID card or equivalent (electronic signature).
– Curriculum vitae of the author(s) summarized in one A4 page, Times New Roman font, font size 12. Divided into the following sections: training; scholarships; awards; individual exhibitions; collective exhibitions.
– An explanatory report of the proposed work, with a maximum of 300 words, signed by the artist.
– Photographs of the work:
A maximum of 10 images between set and details, with the technical data sheet of the work.
– The artists must provide a sworn statement in which they declare the availability of the work for exhibition during the period of the group show as well as for a possible itinerancy.

The presentation of the application may be made through the Institute’s electronic headquarters

The selection of the works that will be part of the group exhibition will be made public through an announcement
