In my work, nature can be considered as a source of supply of
raw material and as a tool for artistic creation using materials that
the environment offers me, as is the hair, and at the same time as a source of inspiration.
I can draw inspiration from the natural environment. My work allows me to communicate
my sensitivity towards residual materials which are commonly rejected in our society
and also about the memories that we must keep alive.
My work comes from a desacralization of everything surrounding bodily residue. It is not
only to collect what has fallen from the body, its waste, which has survived the ordeal of
time, but also to group them together to recreate the universe of a reconstituted nature, which gives it
gives new meaning. My intention is to camouflage the hair in the embroidery and create
works that are endowed with a new meaning, a new beauty.
Influenced by the baroque spirit and its particular way of emphasizing illusion and hybridity
and deception, in my work, the discovery of the origin of my raw material reveals the side
hidden from my artistic research, that of death, artifice and camouflage. In my
works, different concepts mingle, like a weave, demonstrating my need to explore
questions which are both paradoxical and complementary, to see the two “sides of the
mirror” as that of attraction and repulsion, the sublime and the obscene, the sacred and the profane,
which reflect the observation of a duality present in all my plastic research.
There are several sources that constitute the pillar of my research. My works find a source
of inspiration in all fields of science, such as biology but also botany,
and geography. I am also interested in collections and classification principles, both
in the Cabinets of Curiosities, where I look for a certain continuity between nature and art, the
naturalia and artificialias, as in natural history museums.
