"Stitch after stitch, my thought is revealed, the work takes shape..."

Since twenty years, Lili Bel unrolls, disentangles, crochets, stretches, binds the thread of his life in a work in perpetual evolution with constantly renewed forms. Textile plastic artist, she offers to see different axes of her ouvrage de patience. Intimist on autonomous formats of variable dimensions around the theme of love and disenchantment, the work of Lili Bel is also sometimes more imposing, even monumental. He then dialogues with the space that has become matter within installations in situ and never ceases to amaze us. […]

If the work of Lili Bel is diversified in its forms, devices and formats, all of his work takes on its full coherence in the use of the artist's favorite material: wool.
The woolen thread unwinds, weaves, tangles, crochets tirelessly, in an almost obsessive way, in two or three dimensions, in small autonomous objects or within more monumental installations, often in situ, flourishing within the exhibition spaces themselves, both indoors and outdoors.
When she offers us to see her most intimate works, especially the series, Lili Bel gives us his expectations, his quests for love or harmony. In this aspect of his work, the wire also serves as a medium to write messages integrated into the works. His words are then embroidered on various supports such as tarlatan or photographs. Sometimes naïve, sensitive or raw, they can also be funny, light-hearted, aloof and full of humor. Most of the time the typography of these messages is neat, almost academic – reminiscent of childhood and its magical thoughts. This application bears witness to the importance, for the artist, of taking care, of "pampering" those or things one loves, perhaps to prevent or repair the wounds of life, as one would mend a damaged garment.
These works are often inscribed in such a temporality: memory, collection, expectation, which situates them both in a singular autobiographical work, and in a universal questioning bringing everyone back to their own humanity.
The installations au fil are, for their part, much more abstract works, often monumental since they dialogue most of the time with the spaces for which they were designed. Interlacings of skilfully stretched or crocheted threads unfold, structure and redraw the premises. The viewer is then invited to enter, follow or walk through the works to perceive differently the reality of these spaces, thus metamorphosed.
The work of Lili Bel […] is also characterized by the shimmering frankness of its colors which gives the whole a lively, vibrant aspect… like a real reserve of energy.
