Text by the journalist Leticia de Almeida Alves about the works of Marie-Noëlle Deverre, in her Article on contemporary textile art entitled “FIO A FIO” in the Design section of the N°2 edition of Elle Decor Brasil – year 2023
Algunas artists apostam no campo tridimensional.
Some artists have bet on the three-dimensional field. Colourful, plump and playful, the textile sculptures created by the French artist MND show embroidery in an unusual way. Indeed, the pieces reveal the drawing of the lines in a way that is not at all obvious – one has to be careful to realize that the surfaces are not exactly as one might assume at first glance. "My work alludes to lace and embroidery because I print linocuts on fabrics and this technique results in a slight relief on the surface", explains Marie. However, some have real seams, which run freely over the surfaces in order to enhance the volumes and the quilted textures. "I also like to use embroidery patterns in my screen prints, and mix different materials and techniques so that my shapes find an almost natural movement, as if they had a life of their own," she says.
