The carpenter left his workshop one August evening about twenty years ago. He removed his machines, his boards, and his many tools, but the place is not empty, as nature has reclaimed its rights: large branches of ivy and animals quickly moved in, especially spiders; so much so that a winter garden feeling greets us as soon as we walk through the door.
Christelle installed several wire sculptures with the desire to interact with these immense spider webs that make this workshop a unique biotope. What allows this proliferation is the abundance of light that floods this workshop from all sides, and the artist placed her "wire creatures" in such a way as to capture this precious energy. Through the interstices of the boards, threads of light come to cross, split, play and project shadows that throb...
Whether it is morning, afternoon, evening... always warm, this creative light produces different rays and sparkles, it flows along the edge, it redraws the sculptures.
From these clusters of suspended cocoons, from the inside and the outside, veins cross space and cross us, living lines that continue to take root, they abound, they enchant us.
Christelle BALBINOT develops an artistic approach based on metallic thread and creates a material halfway between sculpture and embroidery, thus creating a link between sewing and drawing in space.
