Charity auction for Amnesty International the 18 June by APONEM auction house.
What is a gesture of resistance, a militant gesture, a gesture of solidarity, a gesture of freedom?
For the exhibition The earth is narrow to us, first year Master's students at the Institute of Higher Studies of the Arts (IESA, Paris, 75011), chose to work with artists whose work reflects and illustrates the image and values of Amnesty International,
Through committed works that carry powerful messages. Their work embodies the spirit of the fight for human rights, highlighting injustices, raising awareness of humanist thought and celebrating through art, resistance in the face of adversity.
From painting to photography, including sculpture, drawing, textile works and video, each proposition tells a story of men and women confronted with a world where freedom and the very right to live are being challenged. question by social, economic, political and ideological factors.
This exhibition title “The earth is narrow to us” resonates like a silent cry, carrying with it the weight of the injustices and suffering endured by so many people around the world. It evokes the feeling of being restricted, locked into oppressive patterns, whether because of one's gender, religion, sexual orientation or any other characteristic that should be a source of pride, but is often used as a pretext to restrict freedom and human dignity.
It is also the feeling of being a child deprived of his fundamental rights, condemned to an existence restricted by violence or exploitation, or that of an individual whose freedom of expression is muzzled by fear and repression. However, despite this imposed narrowness, there is a glimmer of hope in this title, a poetry that transcends physical and mental barriers.
Because The Earth is Narrow to Us is not only an acknowledgment of our limits, but also an invitation to imagine a different future, where everyone can live in security and freedom.
An Amnesty International QR code will be present in the exhibition.
