Catch me
Portable work made in tribute to an artist friend who is now deceased (Michel Froger) and who gave me some feathers that I carefully kept. The pen is now what connects us. The feather, the dictionary tells us, is “each of the appendages which cover the skin of birds, formed of a tube and lateral, fine and tight barbs. The feather is used for body protection, thermal regulation and often flight. Large horny, transparent leaf, it is carried dorsally, under a fold of skin, by squid. The feather is the main aesthetic manifestation of the Indians among whom the art of the feather requires complex techniques, one of the strangest of which, the "tapiragem", consists in tinting the feathers of living birds. Feathers drive away bad thoughts in the dreamcatchers of some of the Native American cultures that captivated Michel… L'attrape-Mimi is inspired by Michel's inspirations and combines with mine. Attrape-Mi is like a “dream catcher” that tries to remember the missing friend.
