The soft sculptures “Bauhaus Beauties” are part of a large installation entitled “I do not follow function”.

I am interested in the textile heritage of the women of the Bauhaus. I take design elements, like those of Gunta Stölzl, and free them from the conditions of functionality and profitability.

The thread – for me until now the line on the paper – is intertwined in three dimensions, crocheted to form a stable free form. In the next step, the crocheted sculpture binds to the embroidered paper. This allows the paper material to become three-dimensional by bending and falling.
