Flesh Skin (in French these words also mean orally – cher skin)
Both balloons are terracotta, covered in pigment and beeswax. on top, there is a word on each balloon – flesh and skin. They are placed on two cushions made from a very beautiful fabric stitched with patterns. Cordoba.
As rugby appeared in England, I chose words in English and French to evoke the points of contact of the body: flesh, skin, fragility but also certain expressions in English and French linked to the word "skin". ”, like “goosebumps”, “skin and bones”, “grab you by the skin”…. The embroidery is a color similar to that of the balloons. This work entered the collections of the Musée Géo-Charles in Échirolles, following the exhibition. I am interested in sport but don't know the rules of rugby, so I did some research, and the nobility and dignity of these bodies which confront each other, rub against each other, grab each other, brutalize each other impress me a lot. . The rules “don’t hurt yourself, don’t hurt the other” seem difficult to avoid. It is also said that rugby players offer the ball to each other unlike football. The spider shape that their bodies form when they get closer, and which moves in a strange way, seems off-camera, and belongs to the dance.
