When the month of May arrived, my daughter reminded me of the tradition of the “May Tree”, a rite of celebration of fertility associated with the return of the foliage. Plant a tree or an ornate flagpole. I then documented myself and found images of European folklore, dances in costumes, and handling of immense ribbons that fly or are woven together.
However, I also had ribbons on my embroidery table, and even a photo of young women in costumes in the center of a wooded park, in short, enough to construct a spring scene. I chose ribbons of all kinds, of several sizes and multi-colored, I looked for a colorful one-upmanship. For the plant crown, over a mess of dark green threads, I combined seed beads, sequins and small necklace pendants.
It is quite pleasant to go towards multi-colored and look for the abundance of shades, there is something very festive about following this idea.
