LES SOLEILS ROSES, are five textile works embroidered during six months of chemotherapy for breast cancer.
This piece was the first chronologically. I started it in October 2020, I can say that it launched the Pink Suns project. It had the particularity of initially presenting flower designs inside the weave of the fabric, I liked that. So, I first followed these flowery lines with red cotton. Then, I imagined the breasts as volcanoes – the relief, the possible irruption –, so I aligned and brought up on two axes, starting from the bottom of the piece, cotton threads of two colors of pink. I thought that at the end of these lines, the nipples could appear, I changed the point then, I looked for a dark pink piquet, to which I added seed beads, the whole seeming to me both close to the organic, but also to projections of stones from the imaginary craters of volcanoes. Then, this piece no longer inspired me. So I waited for her to “come back” to me, and I started and finished others, four. Working on the others allowed me to explore more saturated material effects with tight threads, and the addition of wool, the raw appearance of which I really like. I finally covered almost the entire space with the fabric, only the initial red flowers remained hollowed out.
