The sock holes.
Repeated for a long time. Often despised.
Egg, potato, needle, thread.
With more or less dexterity and success.
Varied results.
For a long time I heard my father, who never held a thread and a needle in his fingers, complaining about the so-called recoveries performed by my mother.
The socks have become consumables, disposable, like many other objects that we were struggling to repair a while ago. The sock throws.
Filed, it loses its shine. Relaxed, from her outfit. Pierced, it becomes the cause of a certain gene, if you have to take off your shoes in public. Shame.
However, each wear has its story, is a story.
The man uses them enormously. Does he have fewer socks than the woman? Is he more careless when it comes to caring for his toenails?
Socks last longer for women. Does she more often wear bare feet in her shoes? Do tights and stockings often take over? Does she have more? Does she cut and file her toenails more regularly?
A woman's foot is generally smaller, less muscular than a man's. Does the sock experience less friction?
The child uses them differently. In the heel, when the latter descends on the sole of the foot, for lack of acute growth. Also below, since this one likes to walk in socks. The loss of a single sock in this subject is very frequent.
Each hole has its own story, its own experience.
The assemblage paintings are the faithful witnesses of all these stories. The life of socks worn by the same family.
Nota Bene: the infant is not taken into account in this study because he unfortunately does not use his own.
