Sédimenta Series
2020 – 2021. Composed of Sédimenta I and II, Embroidery in natural and colored hair on silk,
magnifying glass, stainless steel support. 35 x 25 x 40 cm each piece.
The Sédimenta series is a reflection of living things from the mineral world. It represents
remains, strata, fossils, cross sections of stone, like layers
geological which takes us back to the human being, to his DNA with the use of hair. These are marks of time, signs of duration, which mimic the living,
intrinsically linked. Sédimenta represents the synergy of the two organisms, the mineral that
associates with living organisms through its roots and rhizomatic forms to
affirm the mimesis found in nature.
This hybrid object, made with hair, magnifying glass, industrial stainless steel elements,
shells and silver leaf, reveals a mixture between organic materials and
minerals, which give the appearance of new species, of the symbiosis between nature and
the artifact, and that I divert them from their original function. In this piece, the artifice of
vision systems, such as the magnifying glass, allow this work to be understood in another way,
and change your perception.
