The still lifes "westlich.drin.pesönlich" (westernly, personally) are themed around consumption and seduction. The apple, a symbol of seduction in paradise, is for me today – candy wrappers.
Today, little treasures are spread to all corners of the world via freight routes, they lure us through the Internet to convince us to buy, even if we are several thousand kilometers away. They can be found on the anonymous shelves of gas stations, near the cash registers, at children's eye level.
Seductive packaging is purchased, unwrapped and thrown away.
In the series "westlich.drin.persönlich," I explore the motifs and themes of candy packaging collected over many years. Based on information provided by the manufacturers, I find them, locate them, and place them in their proper context—"everything in its place." The title is based on the what3words coordinate system.
