TEIA- Scalable, collaborative and in situ project
A protean textile work, TEIA is a “work in progress”, an experiment that renews itself, transforms, transits and allows me to think sensorially, new themes. It has been evolving since 2017, the year of its first presentation here, at the Martine Ehmer gallery.
Conceived as a reflection on intergenerational links, it evolves with the contribution of my mother's know-how. Born, above all, from a need for rapprochement, it reweaves the link, softens my uprooting and shortens the kilometers between here and there.
This work contains the thematic bases of my recent work, so present in this exhibition: the place and the body. The body is omnipresent. Absent, we guess he is dressed in what was a “dress” which unfolds and invades the space like a spider's web, a fisherman's net. TEIA stretches like a sometimes organized, sometimes haphazard network evoking an imaginary topographical complex.
Like a moving, suspended, floating territory, the installation becomes one with the space of the gallery and resumes its primary role: to reweave the links to better question the ideas of displacement and uprooting.
My wish is to continue to develop this work as long as my mother knows and wants to crochet for me.
Thanks, Mom.
