“Telos” is an installation created in 2021 within the museum space of the Sa Mandra company in Alghero. The installation required three months of work.
Telos is born from an urgency, from a necessity. The kind that belongs to fabrics, to go out, to show themselves. To abandon drawers and fragrant chests. For too long, neatly folded and stored away, they have shared the darkness. They crave the light. They bloom again. They recall that before being telos, they were fields of cotton, hemp, and linen. They are sheets, towels, cloths, and dish towels. They have fringes, lace, and trims. They have tears, holes, and patches. Regardless, they flaunt their time. They defend intimacy. They preserve unspoken desires. They guard dreams. They imprison thoughts. They protect fragrant goodness. Hairy and rough, they distort distant origins. Between the warp and the weft, they weave memories. In the folds, they release voices. They reveal flaws, imperceptible defects. They protect. They are a primal shelter. They adhere like a second skin, smooth and soft. Telos fabrics return a gentle embrace, telling stories of identity and belonging. (Stefano Resmini)
