In small format works such as the Traces series, the embroidery is born from a stain, imperfection or tear in the fabric.
The base fabric is sometimes stained by time, I use very old fabrics.
Sometimes I reinforce the stains on the fabric with ink or rust.
I am interested in fabrics that tell stories and I try to save the traces that time leaves on them.
I do this embroidery intuitively from my drawings and sketches on lichens, mosses and trunks.
I am interested in embroidery not only because it is a versatile technique that offers me many aesthetic possibilities, but also because of the charge of memory that it carries with it: as if the thread could tell us the stories and secrets of so many women from other times and eras.
With free, spontaneous and carefree embroidery, I explore my own inner expression.
In embroidery, I rebel against imposed immediacy.
