Dimensions: 172x70x70cm
A crocheted cylinder suspended by its top around a metal hoop, barely touching the ground… as if levitating…
A cylinder 80 centimeters in diameter, one meter seventy high, like the measurements of the artist, half-open at the back in a slight slit that invites the viewer to look inside...
A cylinder like a bodily envelope, around which one can turn to discover – on the woolen architecture, a hanging of photographs.
Photographs, of identical format (A 4).
Photographs that sporadically show scanned body fragments (the artist's body), thus revealing an intimacy that is always fragmented, almost abstract in its representation.
Photographs which do not reconstitute the reality of this body but which impose truncated, flattened “visions” of it.
To grasp all of it, it is mandatory to go around this device.
A gap, which calls the gaze... Through which one can guess, an intermingling of black threads, stretched inside the cylinder on either side of the wall.
A gap which lets glimpse, between the wires, labels "carrying" small messages: The fulfilled mother, the wounded woman, the eternal lover,...
Messages, seven in number, a number far from trivial since it universally represents the symbol of a whole in motion*.
Messages that deliver a completely different intimacy, an "inner" intimacy, revealing facets of Lili Bel's reality.
Messages finely embroidered with black thread on white tarlatan.
Embroidered messages – stitch after stitch, a crocheted woolen structure – stitch after stitch, Lili Bel is not afraid to defy time. She weaves her life, like a spider weaves her web, to captivate our gaze – often very superficial, inviting us at the same time not to content ourselves with taking a "simple tour" of her work.
