East Gippsland Art Gallery is thrilled to host, launch and announce the prize winners of the third International Art Textile Biennale. This exhibition showcases the innovative work of 44 artists from 12 countries, exploring unexpected relationships between textiles and other creative disciplines.
Exhibition Director and Fibre Arts Australia CEO, Glenys Mann, is committed to developing this significant prize and with it, an original vision that art textile practitioners continue to expand, grow, and inspire. Glenys’ passion and endless energy for this ever evolving medium is inspiring and the Gallery team is excited to join Glenys on the International Art Textile Biennale journey. Glenys’ enthusiasm has seen this celebrated exhibition expand and grow in 2025 and will ensure its growth into 2027 and beyond. This is incredibly exciting for textile artists, the Australian art textile movement and East Gippsland Art Gallery.
Glenys says the selected works display diverse themes. “From intimate reflections to huge environmental issues, the works vary in concepts, techniques, material, and presentation. There is a common thread of innovation, experimentation, and professionalism. Viewers will be captivated and engaged by the rhythm of the maker and excellence exhibited.”
The International Art Textile Biennale will be officially opened by Federal Member for Gippsland, the Honorable Darren Chester at 5.30pm Friday 31st January and announce the prize winners for 2025.
