Du 10/05/2025 au 08/06/2025
A month of May under the banner of fiber art and sustainability with “M(A)Y FIBER – Paths of art and textiles between tradition and sustainability,” a widespread event scheduled from Saturday, May 4 to Sunday, June 2, promoted by the city administration in collaboration with the Arte & Arte association and Fondazione Pistoletto Cittadellarte and the support of numerous sponsors and technical partners.
The event will explore the theme of textiles, an economic sector that has always been in the city’s DNA, in its multiple relationships with art, technique and environmental sustainability through various proposals:
– the fifth edition of MINIARTEXTIL 2024, which will bring to the twin halls of the Textile Museum installations of textile art and small-scale works, the mini-textiles;
– two iconic works by Biella master Michelangelo Pistoletto: the “Venus of Rags” that will be exhibited in Palazzo Marliani Cicogna and the “Third Paradise” that will be displayed in the Textile Museum’s Square Garden;
Created in 1967, the Venus, a work that has had several replicas, in the version set up in Busto Arsizio will be made with fabrics from local companies committed to textile sustainability.
The Third Paradise, a work from 2003, derives from the symbol of infinity as a search for a new synthesis between nature and society, developed by the master with different materials and in different contexts, leading to the creation of the Third Paradise in porcelain stoneware bearing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. Already exhibited at the UN, this version of the work will be in town precisely on the occasion of M(A)Y FIBER.
– “The Secrets of Blue,” a technical exhibition on the color blue in textiles and dyeing: contemporary textile works, some specially made or reworked, will be presented alongside samples, vintage labels and magazines, fabrics, yarns and dyeing trials.
– side events and guided tours of the companies;
– guided tours and educational activities for children.
